Our Curriculum
Curriculum Leader: Sarah Appleyard

At Rushton Primary School, we aim to provide a broad and balanced education which ensures that all of our pupils achieve their full potential. We follow the programmes of study as laid down in the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework; and have set out the knowledge, skills, concepts and vocabulary that will enable the children to be successful in the future.

We aim to make learning long lasting by ensuring that there are carefully thought out connections within and across units of work. Further connections are made to the school’s values and actions. Our five actions were developed as a staff to meet the specific needs of our pupils so that they can be embedded within our curriculum.
We recognise the importance of wellbeing, and we aim to nurture and support all of our pupils so that they are ready for the challenges of modern life.
Our curriculum is underpinned by an enjoyment of reading, and we use stimulating and thought-provoking texts across the school. We include texts that we believe champion diversity and equality and challenge disadvantage and stereotyping.
